Departmental Warranty Services

Rutgers Computer Repair is a self maintainer and offers warranty services for the following manufacturers

Apple
Dell
HP/Compaq
IBM/Lenovo

This means Rutgers Computer Repair can provide warranty services for hardware malfunctions. If your computer requires a hardware replacement, Rutgers Computer Repair can order/replace the part for you. Departmental UCS have the option of replacing the parts them self. We can order the parts and have them shipped directly to your location with a simple email to computer_repair@email.rutgers.edu. The only exception is Apple computer; Computer Repair must perform all Apple repairs.

To have warranty parts shipped directly to you, we need the following info.

Dell computer, description of the failure, service tag, parts needed, and ship to location.

HP/Compaq description of the failure, serial number, part number of the machine or printer, part needed with FRU#, and ship to location. HP pavilions must be sent to the manufacture for warranty repair on all major components.

Lenovo description of the failure, serial number, machine type number, part needed with FRU#, and ship to location.

Apple must be serviced by Computer Repair.

Note: On Dell computers some components are considered customer replaceable units. These are components that Dell has deemed replaceable by the customer and therefore they will not pay for a service provider to replace them. Dell has the most extensive list of components classified in this category. Their list includes batteries, memory, drives, keyboards, etc. If the component you need replaced is a customer replaceable unit, you will be subject to labor fees if Computer Repair does the repair for you. Department UCS’s can still have us order and ship them the part for free. Depending on how you purchased your Dell Computer, Computer Repair may not get reimbursed for the repair therefore a labor charge will apply, department UCS’s can still have us order and ship them the part for free.

Note: Lenovo IdeaPad's
Rutgers Computer Repair is unable to provide warranty service for the Lenovo IdeaPad's. This is a consumer product line and for warranty support you must contact Lenove consumer support at 877-453-6686 or web support at http://consumersupport.lenovo.com; the exception being the S9e, s10e, and S10 with internal 3G.
